Hanyu is the first Japanese male skater to win Olympic gold. Hanyu followed his older sister Saya into skating. He looks up to Johnny Weir in figure skating. Hanyu’s home and ice rink were damaged during the earthquake and tsunami catastrophe on March 11, 2011 and he trained in Yokohama before the ice rink re-opened four months later. Hanyu switched coaches in spring 2012 and has moved to Canada for training. Coach Brian Orser is the 1984 and 1988 Olympic silver medalist.

He literally could have stopped and walked home after 3A+2T, before the 3A+1Lo+3S, at that point he had already won the competition.
I think I started screaming right after he landed the 3Lz because he could have fallen at that point and it would have been a world record anyway.
The previous world records for free skate and total competition score belonged to Patrick Chan at 196.75 and 295.27 respectively.
This is the greatest free skate of all time.
